AVIOSYS Corporation of Taiwan makes very good and affordable MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 encoder/capture cards. From what I can tell by reading various websites - this card seems to be the same as the ProVideo 256 capture card and similar to the Kworld DVD Maker.
AVIOSYS does not have any dealers in the US but they will sell directly to the public and their prices are very cheap compared to BestBuy or CompUSA. Customer service sent me this price list:
DVD Plus 3010---FOB Taiwan :US$125/set-- includes 3 cables
DVD Plus 3060---FOB Taiwan :US$135/set--includes 3 cables
DVD Plus 3020---FOB Taiwan :US$145/set--includes 5 cables . remote controller/battery
Option: Ulead -- DVD Movie Factory -- US$10/ea --- for burning / editing
Ulead Video Studio 5.0 SE -- US$10/ea --- for editing
Shipping -- by EMS Speedpost - US$25.00 -- 4-5 days arrival
There is also a DVD Plus 3070 Digital Video Firewire capture card that company makes. I do not know anything further about this card as I was not inquiring about it.
Anyone who wants to order the AVIOSYS card can order one by email at service@aviosys.com or cathy@aviosys.com.tw.
The AVIOSYS homepage is http://www.aviosys.com.
I will post a review of this video capture card once I have it installed in my system. I ordered the 3020 model with remote.
