audio codec needed??

i'm trying to encode subs into movie file. when i open the file in virtualdub, it's not producing any sound. i check the file info and it gives then following info, in particular the audio stream:

compression: unknown (tag 2000)

do i need to install any audio codec??

sounds like a ac3 sound file. Open file in Gspot and it will tell you what codec is needed.

ok, i opened using gspot and for the audiostream info, it says the codec used is ac3 and for the status, it says codec is installed. but for the streamtype and a/v interleave, it says the type is openDML AVI, I/L: not supported, IMRR: n.s
