I've used the Memorex brand for creating VCDs for a long time now. All of a sudden I have problems erasing them. I've tried different softwares to do this from NERO, EasyCD, and some freeware software. But they all seem to be working the same when it comes to erasing. The problem is that it leaves couple of MBs on the CD-RW, and the burning software doesn't recognize it as a blank CD, so I can't reuse it anymore.

Did you overburn them? Erasing doesn't go that far.

I've tried formating them but I still have some data left, so its not completly formated
I've used the cd-rws no more than 3 times, and I always write on 4x speed, so I don't think that It is overburning problem

  5. A good thing to try is a different brand disc. If it works & erases flawlessly then those memorexes may be faulty - since it's a name brand they might even replace them.

I had problems with my drive recognizing a pack of memorex cdr-w's. My friend's drive had the same problem with them. I returned 'em.

Today I tried formatting and than erasing the CD-RWs and it worked. But from now on do I have to repeat the same process. Because it takes almost an hour just to format and about 20min to erase. But I guess it's worthed.

how do you reformat? I've got the same problem with my memorex CDRW's--I'm up to about 8 or 9 that won't work. They said they'd replace them, but I'm still waiting for the new ones to come

sorry about my late response. I havn't visited the forum for a while. You can format your CD-RW by going to the My Computer and right clik on the CD-R drive icon and ther should be option of Format. Of course the CD-RW has to be in the drive.
