  1. I hope someone can help me with this. I made a dvd image over a year ago of a dvd I had. The dvd since then has become damaged and can't be played any more. I have tried to use 42 to downsample the mpeg2 file because it was about 4.9 gigs. What I get is a 3.5 gig .mpg file and a 3.0 m2v file that I have not had any luck turning into a burnable video_ts folder. I tried sizzle but it needed a separate audio file in addition to the .m2v file. I also tried several tools to try to extract the audio from the .mpg file but they either crash on me part way through or spit out a bunch of smaller files that I can't figure out how to join to make one file. Also I found out that 42 had turned the audio part into a .mp3 file. Ideally, I wanted the .ac3 audio file.

It would be so easy to use OSEX to extract the audio from the image if it could work with images. Does anybody know any way that I can get the .ac3 file from the image and use it to author the video_ts folder? I could also settle for the .mp3 file if I could find a reliable way to extract it from the .mpg file. Any ideas??

if your original dvd doesn't works cause it's scratched... there's a way to recover it. use a soft piece of cloth, like those things you use to clean the windshield (parabrisas) of your car. then you must add some metal polisher, just a couple of drops and then clean the surface with this for a while with some strenght. this will remove the damaged layer of your dvd and will play as nice as before.
After doing that, you need to use another piece of sotf cloth to wipe the rests of the metal polisher and that's it.
I usually do this with my playstation discs, music cd's... dvd's not yet cause i take good care of them... too expensive to be careless about.

Hope this may recover your dvd. at least this process works for me and a lot of people here.
