  1. I've just tried using dvd2svcd for the first time, and i'm trying to convert a divx movie into an svcd, split over 3 discs.
When the program had finished I had 3 .cue files and 3 .bin files, which seemed O.K, but the first .bin file was 804 mb, the second was 148 mb, and the third was only 5.4 mb !!!
Most settings were at their default after installing dvd2svcd, so what could I be doing wrong?

    Thx......

  2. Yeah, setting disc/file set in the DVD2SVCD bitrate tab can be confusing. Here's the easiest work around. Enter the same size for ALL the times, and enter 3 discs (or desired number) for ALL the times.

That way no matter what your source runtime DVD2SVCD will spilt your movie onto 3x 80min CDRs. What most likely happened is that your source runtime was at a number that 'just happened' to be between DVD2SVCDs default ranges.

  3. Thanks for the reply.
    I tried re-encoding with the settings you suggested, but i'm still getting weird image file sizes, i.e disc 1 - 800meg, disc 2 - 140meg, disc 3 - 4meg.
The source divx was in two parts when i got it, and i joined it together with virtualdub. Could this have caused a problem?

  4. there is a guide that gives you the solution to your problem. without knowing more, I would say it may have had something to do with what was happening in vdub, but couldnt swear to it based on the information.

TAke a peek at this and see if it helps:

  5. I've just tried encoding another movie with dvd2svcd. This was a 700 meg Xvid which I had set to go on two discs, but I'm still getting wierd .bin file sizes.
The image for disc one was about 500 meg, and image two was 4.5 meg. I also noticed from the log report that disc one was to be split into 8 chapters and disc two had 1 chapter.
Now that two seperate movies have done the same thing, I don't think the source is the problem.

Any ideas ? ..........Thanks in advance
