Every tutorial I read seems to suggest either creating an image file or using Nero's DVD-Video template to burn my back-ups. Is there a reason that just burning my completed AUDIO/VIDEO_TS folders using the standard "data" mode is not a good option? I've used the latter method on about 10 burns so far (DVD-5, DVD-9s split to two disks using IfoEdit) and they seem to play well using 3 different DVD players.
Please advise if I may have some compatibility problems down the road.
Regards,
Golem

Another great burning program is imgtools using high compatibility mode. You can download it on doo9.net I think. My dvd player won't play dvd's burned with anything but this program, so that must mean it burns pretty compatible dvds.
