  1. Is it neccesary to convert MPEG sound to AC3? If both my DVD players support MPEG sound and my captures are from laser disk which is only pro logic is there some reason to convert sound to AC3 because I would rather not have to deal with the demuxing, muxing and sync problems if I don't have to. I am making DVD's

    If the audio is MPEG1, LAYER II then that is a valid audio format for DVD. PAL also accepts MPEG2 audio (but not NTSC).

    If you are worried about sync issues with .AC3, and you don't have any with .MPA, then don't. Your .AC3 file will have the same time indexes as your .MPA. (Been there, done that...)
