Hey guys, I have another question about getting the file size under 700mb. That is my ulitmate goal and i have tryed using DivxRay, Forty-Two, and Mendcoder, forty-two shows the most promise, but makes an .avi larger than 700mb, when i set it to "one CD" I get around 750MB. Which toast won't burn. I have seen posted where peolple say to trim the movie, i have no problem doing that, except how do i do it ? i have quicktime pro 6 and it is my understanding that when opening an .avi in quicktime i can trim it but when i go to save, what type of file do i save as ? won't i lose audio, since quicktime doesn't recoginze the audio files very well ? some guidance would be great, if i could skip the quicktime step that would be even better, and if you could help me get 2 700MB files out of forty-two that would be awesome.......... thanks for the help![]()

If you do not mind only playing the file on your mac do the following
Download DIVX codex www.divx.com
install this.
You will install an app called DIVX VALIDATOR
Drag and drop your .avi onto this program
This will validate the file to be played using quicktime with proper sound
Open the file in quicktime.
Use the little triangle arrows to select the amount of movie you want
Cut some off the beginning and end.
COPY this section
Apple + N for new
Apple + A to select all
Apple + V to paste your section into this.
Go to save as. Select self contained movie (your new size is shown. If its still too large, cancel and do this again until it fits)
Other option is to read my earlier reply to the problem on overburning.
You can easlily burn 750 megs onto the CD-r. Follow instructoin in the link provided
It always works for meMax is 750 with no errors !

Use ffmepgX v0.0.6f to trim your movie to fit 700MB. In the tools tab, there is an AVI split option, which you can specify in minutes and seconds. Do a trial and error until it fits. It's also advisable to burn as an ISO9660 CD so that the invisible desktop files are not included. Or if you want to burn as a Mac OS extended and PC (hybrid) CD, double-click on the CD icon and select the 'Use Empty Desktop Database' option.
Hope this helps.
