  1. Hi, I've been using an ADVC100 with my P-IV 2.53 running XP with no problem. Until tonight... Now, whenever I plug my ADVC100 into the 1394 port and power it up, the computer doesn't recgonize it is there. This may be significant: the ADVC100 powers up with both the analog and digital lights on the front panel lit up, and they stay lit up as long as there is power to the unit. I've tried all the usual things; booting with the AVDC plugged in and powered up, holding down the power switch for a minute or two, disablabling and re-enabling my 1394 port. I've tried the ADVC on more than one computer and it does the same on both other machines. The firewire cable works fine with other devices. Anyone else had this problem and if so, what was the fix?

    Thanks
    Dave

try removing your 1394 device from your device manager in windows and boot the machine with the ADVC-100 plugged in and powered up. I had to do this when I first plugged the unit in and after windows re-installed the firewire device (h/w discovery on boot), I've had no issues with capturing since...

I'd also recommend checking out the forums over at Canopus if you haven't already. They have been a tremendous resource of troubleshooting issues!!!

Are the jumpers on the base of the Canopus OK?

    Regards,

This happened to me the second time I used the unit. I called tech support, and they said it was a bad unit. I sent it back, and I'm waiting for a replacement.

I'm curious to know how long you had it before this happened.

  5. Salami,

My ADVC had this problem the first time I took it out of the box. Since I had been wanting a faster computer anyway, I convinced myself it was my computer and not the ADVC 100 (the things we tell ourselves to justify new toys!). So I went out and bought a new machine. The weird part...The ADVC100 worked! And it continued to work for about 3 weeks before the problem cameback. I just got off the phone with Canopus and they are said it needs to be replaced.
