I'm trying to capture in Pinnacle's Studio 8, but I'm having a problem. It won't let me capture anything above VCD resolution, even though my capture card says it will allow SVCD and DVD resolution captures. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem? Pinnacle's support is of no help.
    Thanks for your help

  2. It might help if you let us know from what are you capturing.

  3. You need to tell
    1) which capture card you use (Firewire, DC10, MP10, etc..) ?

    2) and what is the source of your video ? (analog camcorder, digital camcorder, VCR, etc..) ?

before you get the correct answers.

  4. ahh, Studio 8. I can say that I have ditched the program for Ulead Movie Factory 2 (which only works right on W2K). Capturing in Studio is only the beginning of a wave of problems. It somewhat works unless you edit your mpg file which causes the program to convert it back to a single edited file. It will crash or lockup every time.

For capturing,, I reverted back to my ATI software because studio would not let me do anything even close to DVD quality.

Sorry I'm using a Pinnacle PCTV Pro PCI capture card, with tuner in (cable TV).

  6. That could explain why: your PCTV capture card.
Did you check to see if this capture card can capture at DVD res ?

  7. This card really can't capture anything higher than 352x240....

Maybe you can capture in higher resolutions using that generic BT drivers, but with Pinnacle default drivers and software this board will do only VCD resolucion.

My card says it will capture in VCD, SVCD asd DVD resolutions. It will capture in those resolutions with PowerVCR2, but the mpg encoding looks really bad in that program, so I'd prefer to capture to avi, then convert to mpg with TMPGEnc.
