dvd to svcd problems

I have a problem. I have tried using TMPGenc to encode to svcd and burn using nero but the resulting svcd pauses on my Ariston dvd2000 player. I tried muxing using bbmpeg and burning an image instead (made it a bit better but not much)
I've now tried re-mpeg - which is very good and gives good results with no playback problems whatsoever. But the image ratio is now wrong - I am missing bits on the side of the image. TMPGenc includes source/output selectors for this but re-mpeg doesn't. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am almost there but cant get this bit to work.

I did not work with Re-mpeg, but maybe this guide helps.

Thanks - thats the guide I used. It doesn't seem possible to change the aspect ratio in rempeg
