I’ve been seeing a lot of DVD player recently that are label as “JPEG Disc compliable”. Can anyone give me some info on these please. Are they any different from Kodak Photo CDs. Can I burn my own JPEG CDs?

They are just jpgs burnt to a disk in mode 1 (data disk.) Yes they are basically the same as what you can get when you develop film, except that they will sometimes include some software on the disk for playing it on your PC. Basically its for those people who can't figure out how to browse a cd.
To make one yourself just burn some jpgs to a disk and if your dvd player supports JPEG disks than it should play. You can also include sound but I'm not positive how you would do it manually. There are programs out there which can JPEG disks with sound, but don't confuse this with the photocd option that many programs have. These make a VCD slideshow instead. -
Thanks a lot. Just one more thing. Is it safe to assume that when you play the disc in you DVD player you would navigate through the disc similar to a MP3 CD?

I think it depends on your player. I believe that some will let you jump from one still to the next using the next and previous keys. My player just plays them automatically one after the other and lets you do various things while its playing. (rotate, select from different types of transitions ect..)
