Will capturing at a higher bitrate help when I encode the video down.

My DVD player will only play CVD under 3000 bitrate.

  4. A lot depends on what authoring software you are using and its requirement for Audio and Video. I set up my profiles based on what my authoring software requires.

    Absolutely!
I have a rule of thumb that my captures need to be at least twice
    my authored bitrate.
But I guess this would also depend on your hardware capabilities.
    Presently I can't capture above
    a 3000 bitrate without problems,
but that's ok since I'm only
using it to Tmpgenc down to vcd's.
Still it bugs me, I know my computer should do better.

  6. Has anyone tested how motion settings affect quality? I have mine set at 12. Would 16 be better or is 8 or 4?
