  1. I have no idea what's happening here, seems like lately, all my movies encoded result being out of synch....Aware of the fact that WMP does a great job in keeping movies synched, I test all my movies by playing them in VirtualDub and I know that the source avi file is OK.

    I follow the all in one quide AVI to VCD or SVCD to the letter, and the resulting mpg file is out of synch even in WMP.

    I am running
    ATHLON 1600 XP
    WIN XP
    512 ram

    I have installed
    DIVX 3,4 & 5.03 codecs
    XVID
    AC3 filter
    SVCD Plugin for WMP

    I extract the audio to wav with virtualdub
    audio --> no compression --> 44100.....save wav

    TMPGENC
    -Select the Video, Audio Source and Output name
    -Go to Setting -->
    --Video
    --Rate Control Mode "2 Pass VBR"
    --Motion Precision "Highest Quality"
    ---Advanced
    ---Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)
    ---Source Range
    I encode it and the resulting mpg is out of synch....

    what could I be doing wrong???

    most likely your audio is recorded with a variable bit rate (vbr)
    when you open in vdub check audio then go to full processing mode
    then go to aduio again and check conversion, then check 44100, 16 bit stereo and high quality THEN go to file and save wav. if your audio is not ac3 then it will be in synch. If it is ac3 then you need to convert to wav using headache or something. Use audio dierect stream copy then sav wav but change the extension to .ac3 instead of .wav. then convert with headac3he
    good luck
