  1. Hi my name is Sherri, I am an absolute newbie here, and when it comes to burning dvds. I have tried just about everything that I know to try. Anyway, I'm sure someone else out there uses Nero and can give me some suggestions.....pleaseeeee??? lol
    Thanks in advance

  2. well first off you shouldn't use nero to burn dvds. some players for some reason won't play them. i didn't believe this at first because they played in my dvd player and its like 4 years old. then i tried other dvd players and they won't play them even though the player did play dvd-rs. so i tried recordnow max and guess what they played just fine. Just make two folders. One that says AUDIO_TS, and the other which says VIDEO_TS, ALL CAPS. Then put your movie in the VIDEO_TS folder. Then open RecordNow Max and close the "wizard." Hit the "DATA" tab and then hit the "ADD FILES and FOLDERS" button and then ADD your AUDIO AND VIDEO_TS folders. Then go to "edit" and go down to where it says "DVD" and select TRACK AT ONCE "CLOSED" if you are using DVD-R's. Leave the Joliet options alone and then hit the "red" button which says "record" if you put your mouse by it. That is all you have to do and it is VERY simple. Once you are done, you will notice that not only did your burn work out PERFECTLY, but you will notice that you will be able to play your burned disk in EVERY standalone player that can read DVD-R.

  3. Thanks ghoster, I guess I should also mention that I have a DVD+R if that makes a difference. Nero is what came with my burner, after trying time and time again to burn dvds unsuccessfully, I read into the help files of Nero that I'd need an MPEG-2 encoder....which I went ahead and paid for, but even after successfully installing that plugin I have yet to figure out what to do. I'll give that a shot....was just hoping that I could figure out how to use the software that I already had.....
    Thanks again!

  4. Hi there I have a ricoh dvd+r recorder and have had the same problems with nero. I now use record now max. perfect results every time. I find that if you play the dvd on your machine first, just a couple of mins so that it is recognised it never fails. Make sure you have the latest aspi drivers on you machine. You can get it from adaptec site.

  5. Sherri -

I'm using a Sony DRU500a and I've had completely opposite results - NERO happens to be the one program for me that is the most stable. The root issue with DVD compliance appears to be related to UDF. Nero burns 1.5 by default, however there is an option to select 1.2 so that discs will play on older players.
