  1. I used Streambox VCR to capture a live concert that is over an hour long. There was a break in the feed so I have it in 2 parts. They play just fine but had no controls to pause or advance. It's just play and stop and then it restarts at the beginning.

I was able to repair Part 1 (11 minutes) using ASFTools and it now has the normal controls. But I have been unable to repair part 2 which is over an hour and 203 MB.

I've tried ASFTools, ASFChop and a few others. Most programs don't even recognize this file as a valid .asf file. TMPGenc doesn't accept it and Virtual Dub crashes when I load it.

Is there any way to repair this file so that I can have the controls?

BTW, when viewed in Power DVD, I can PAUSE it and resume, but still no forward or back comtrol.

Thanks, I'm new to posting on the forum, but have be reading here for a while.

  4. If nothing else works, here's what I did before all those tools were out...

    1. Append the original ASF onto the original ASF (there's some DOS tool to do this, called something like asfappend, but I can't recall the name).

    2. Next, use ASFchop to cut the ASF into the length of the movie. Often times in step 1 the ASF gets a few hours of messed up frames in the center, so try cutting segments that are the length of your movie from the beginning and end. At least one should be your movie.

    3. Now you have a fully working ASF with controls which can be recognized by tmpgenc and virtualdub.
