it seems there are guides to add permanent subs to SVCDs

im looking for a guide to add selectable subs (SVCD can handle 4 subs per file)

on my search there was a guide but we do need šI-authorš and it seems its not a free soft. or i have no idea where to get it as shareware.

the guide is quite easy, but my question:
Is there any other guide we can follow without depending uppon šI-Authorš , also this software being talked a lot ....maestroSBT,submux. winsubmux,.......do they help???
    thanx...hope your replies

Yes I-Author is pretty outdated, though still and incredible program.

Forget about SubMux, its basically incorporated into a more improved version, WinSubMux.

If your source is a DVD than use subrip to get the subtitle streams off the DVD. You can then use WinSubMux to add the streams into your mpg stream. I think both these programs are in the tools section.

You only use MaestroSBT if your subs are in a different format that you need to convert for use with SVCDs. For example, you can get the subs from a divx file.

There is a guide on using subrip at www.doom9.net. As for using WinSubMux, its pretty self explanatory I think, but you need to try out both the CVD and the SVCD option. These are different subtitle formats and different dvd players often support only one or the other. Don't be too suprised if subs don't work at all, most svcd compatible dvd players don't support soft encoded subs.
