  1. I've used this tool for a while, but just started having this problem. Prior to opening TMPGEnc I created a wav file using VirtualDub. Again, this is something I've done many times before. When I open TMPGEnc I can get through the process of setting up the conversion to the point where I choose the audio. When I select the WAV file I created in VirtualDub, the PC freezes. Again, I've used these programs using the exact same routine many times and never had this problem until now. I've tried it several different files, so I don't believe it is due to a corrupted file. Also, I have tried setting it up both with and wothout the wizard and get the same problem both ways. I also tried reinstalling TMPGEnc.

    Can anyone help me?

Try using Gold Wave to create your wave file.

  4. It plays in WMP, but not WinAmp. I don't know how to check the sampling frequency.

  5. Ok, I have more info. It seems this is a probelm with xVid files only. I have tried using other formats and it works no problem. I downloaded the codec, I have changed priority settings for DirectShow as directed. I even tried re-downloading the codec. It seems problem converting Xvid are common, but I haven't been able to find a solution in any other thread.

FWIW, the file info is as follows:

    640 x 272, 24 Bits, 80530 Frames, 23.976 Frames/Sec, 213 KB/Sec, DIVXMPG4 V3

It also lists Nandub v1.0rc2 as software.

  6. hi-

If it is xvid files, you MUST change the envirornmental settings. I am at work right now, and don't remember the exact setting, but you will have to increase the priority of direct media to 3+. Otherwise, it will freeze everytime you try to load the file.
Try it...and let me know if that helps.

I have changed the priorities as outlined on this site. It still freezes.

Hey, is that an uncompressed wav file ?
because if it was, winamp must not have any problems.
I smell something like ac3 here....
    Best wishes,

  10. I am using VirtualDub to convert to WAV. I don't know what the audio is in the original file. The movie is the postx version of LOTR:TTT. I have also tried the ViTE version of the same flick, but have had the exact same problems. Also, VirtualDub has never converted to what I'll call a "true WAV file" in that the icon that shows up is not a WAV icon and when I select the audio I have to drop down and select All Files to get it to show up in the window. This has not, however, ever been a problem for me in the past.
