These were just straight 'uninstalls' from add/remove programs in control panel. I think you need to uninstall MMC 7.1 before installing MMC 7.7. I uninstalled DVD 7.6 simply because I figured I should uninstall it along the way. The key thing is to reinstall DVD 7.6 BEFORE MMC 7.7.
