hey, i downloaded an MTV Making the Video Blink 182 Man Overboard file which took me over 27 hours [sucky 28k modem and slow web server] and anyway, once i unzipped it i noticed there are tonnes of spanish words on the bottom of the screen, subtitles for MTV Mexico i guess but since these subtitles are appearing on the big black bottom bit of the file i was wondering if there's anyway i can take them away, like by putting a big black rectangle over the bottom part of the screen on the whole video? i'm sure i've seen it done before [daveyscan's "defy you" Offspring rip for UCV last year] but i was just wondering, can anyone point me in the right direction of how to go about doing this? thanks for your help!

You would have to re-encode the file (eg. to a new DivX) to remove them. This can be done. The 'easiest' way would be to use Virtual dub and the 'crop' filter. Look to the left for faqs on using VDub or at:

Their is a logo filter that comes with Virtual Dub, very very helpful, it's eaither Logo Away or Delogo [something like that] it;s a pretty easy to use program.
You can set the darkness, where you wanna place it, this is the best part for you, it makes a RECTANGULAR bar, and I think you can set the length as well Try searching the forums, IM SURE you will find many ways.
Hope it helps !
