  1. Hi, i use DVD2SVCD and CCE 2.50 to encode movies. I am currently trying to backup my Shrek DVD. (source: UK Pal) However, when CCE gets to 74% of the way through encoding (4hrs,6mins,48 seconds elapsed, 1hr,25 mins,26s remaining) and then freezes/crashes. Windows XP doesn't recognise that the program has stopped responding, DVD2SVCD is still working and the PCs resources are on full, clicking on the cancell button will stop it encoding, and so it appears that CCE has trouble encoding a certain point on the movie. However, i have watched the dvd and the source is fine, with no problems. I also encoded another film (training day) after shrek froze and it worked no problems!

DOes anyone have any idea as to why this problem has occured???

    Thanks a lot

  2. Check your AVS script file, also check to make sure that all the ripped VOB files are named correctly and actually contain the movie. Sometimes when you rip a DVD you'll get:

    VTS_01_01.vob
    VTS_01_03.vob
    VTS_01_04.vob
    VTS_01_08.vob

This can cause problems in DVD2AVI (autoload). Further sometimes not all these vob files contain anything (try playing them in WMP or Win/PowerDVD to check).

I've noticed that when this happens often the first and last vob files contain no data (or at least no video).

  3. Cheers a lot m8, you were right, the 4th (out of 5) Vob file is corrupt in some way, the wideo just goes 14 mins into playing this file (which is approx 74% of the way through the entire length of the movie!). The lack of video input must be confusing CCE! However, how do i correct this problem?? perhaps by ripping the DVD with smartripper or DVD decryptor and pasting the files into the DVD2SVCD folder??

    Any ideas m8???

  4. I used smartripper to rip the files to the appropriate directory and then i checked all the files to ensure that no video was lost. I then used DVD2SVCD and CCE to convert it and, as per usual, 74% of the way through encoding the movie it stopped encoding (didn't crash)

any other ideas any one??? plz help!!
