I'll be getting this player, but unfortunately not for a while. For now I'm stuck with WinDVD on the PC to play VCD's. What I would like to do is encode what I have on my PC in the best possible format so it'll play on WinDVD and also the Apex 500 player later. These are around 40min media files and I would like to put them each on a 80min CDR as SVCD with Mpeg2 if possible. Can you guys tell me exactly how you guys burn your SVCD's for your APEX player, how much bitrate, resoultion and all that other info?

WOW thats alot but here goes, 1st of all any CD-R will work in the APEX 500W even the 99min CD-R's
I capture SVCD using a MPEG2 decoder card.
The SVCD standard settings are
2520 bitrate
44.100 16 bit stereo audio
480x480 NTSC
These are the settings I use
I use TMPGE to encode or demux any AVI or MPEG2
You should have also NERO 5.5 to burn your SVCD MPEG2 onto a CD-R also. Before ruining a bunch of CD-R's you should practice on a CD-RW 1st.
