svcd to vcd to play in standalone dvd

I've been able to get this to work in my player, althogh the quality of a VCD is significantly less.

I also have a dvd player that cannot play svcd.
So I used dvd2avi to convert svcd to vcd and kept the bitrate pretty high
instead of 1150 (vcd) to 2200.
So i had a vcd with a high quality picture.
