  3. If you have the WAV file then you can use BeSweet to create an AC3 file. If you're then creating a DVD you will need an authoring program that can import AC3 e.g. Maestro

yes ive tried virtual dub and it says " the requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format, check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format"
i tried to save it as a wav file.

besweet wants an ac3 file or some other sound format file, which i cant give it cos its in the video file , so im stuck with besweet,

still drivin me crazy this, cant tmpgenc support files with an ac3 sound format, if not someone tell them to get on with it.

  5. Starting with the avi file you can use TMPGenc to extract the audio into a wav file. Writing from memory I think it's on the file menu, save audio, and then select WAV.

Once you have extracted the wav file as above use BeSweet to convert the WAV into AC3 (I use it all the time and it is quick and easy).

Once you have the AC3 file use Maestro as mentioned earlier (if you're making a DVDR)

  6. Use HeadAC3he/BeSweet to extract .ac3 audio from the .avi and convert it to 2 channel stereo .wav.

From what I can tell Tmpgenc doesn't encode ac3 .mpg files.

But there is a AC3 VirtualDub around somewhere that can encode .avi's and maybe extract them. But you still need to re-channel the .ac3 to .wav
