  1. Does anyone know if there's a way to take a movie that is split onto two DVD's, and get it to fit onto one DVD-R using DVD2ONE? Specifically I am asking about the first 'Lord of the Rings'. I'm willing to sacrifice some quality for the convenience of one DVD-R, although I'm sure with the right tools it will still look good (I've seen other 3-hour movies look great!). My question is how can you do this, would you have to rip each disc and somehow 'fool' DVD2ONE into thinking its one long movie? And by doing this, would you mess up things like chapters, subtitles, etc?

    Thanks!

  2. This should be pretty straighforward.

    1) Rip all files to hard drive from discs into same folder
    2) Rename files so they have same vts #
    eg. vts_01_01, vts_01_02, vts_01_*.*
    3) Delete all IFO and BUP files
    4) Open IFOedit and Make New IFO (select first vob and let it process)
    5) Load in DVD2One

  3. Cool, thanks! I've just never messed with IFO & BUP files before now. Obviously I need to learn IFOedit. Now will this method retain the chapters and subs?

  4. Yes, it should keep all of your original chapter points. It will keep the subs as long as you selects subs in DVD2ONE.

Hello Guys. I'm also trying to put a movie that's on 2 discs onto 1 DVR using DVD2ONE. I followed Hex's advice. IE

    1) Rip all files to hard drive from discs into same folder
    2) Rename files so they have same vts #
    eg. vts_01_01, vts_01_02, vts_01_*.*
    3) Delete all IFO and BUP files
    4) Open IFOedit and Make New IFO (select first vob and let it process)
I did this by clicking on the button"create ifos" and loaded just the first .vob file into there. It took like 1/2 hr to process the 13 .vob files and it had created new .ifo and .bup files. (however, I never had any .bup files initially from the original rip... don't know if that makes a diff). To be precise, the 4 files it created were 1) VIDEO_TS.BUP 2) VIDEO_TS.IFO 3) VTS_01_0.BUP and 4) VTS_01_0.IFO

Then, I started up DVD2ONE and gave it a source and destination directory. It showed me that the movie was 38 chapters and 3:20:23 approx(can't remember exactly) and it started its work. Like 1 and 1/2 hrs later, it was done and I tested it out in PowerDVD by "loading a DVD from HDD". I just loaded VIDEO_TS.IFO and it started playing, but it only had upto the end of the first disk... like 34 chapters or something.

Did I miss something here? Would someone please be able to instruct me on the right way to create ifos using IFOedit if I did something wrong. Thanks a lot.

Bombart: I'm no expert here but I think you left out some critical steps. After you have created your new IFO's, you need to then click on "VOB Extras" and correct the vob pointers (when you click on the button, you will be promted to with options, however, on the left you should only click on two boxes but I'm not sure right now cause Im at work). Then, after that is complete, you will want to click on "Get VTS Sectors" and select any ifo file that was newly created. Ifoedit will run through all your ifo's and correct and save them all. Now your ready to use DVD2One. Make sure you test with PowerDVD first. Good luck!

kpoman: Thanks for your reply... I will try doing what you suggest. Last night, I deleted the rip cause I thought it was useless. You've given me more hope and I'll rip it again now. I did "Get VTS Sectors" , but what I didn't try was the "VOB extras". Would you be able to let me know exactly how I should change the VOB pointers? I'm a real newbie to this and have no idea how to do that. Thanks a lot.

  8. Did you ever find out exactly HOW this is done?
I've tried everything this post has recommended, yet I still can't get the .IFO and .BUP files where they need to be.

Anyone have success with putting "Lord of the Rings:FOTR" 2-Disc onto 1 DVD-r using DVD2ONE?

If so, what is the exact procedure you used?

  9. This is what I do when joining .VOB's from different sources (ie-2d discs)...

Download VOBedit, you can get it at http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com. Actually, this where all the info comes from...

Let's say you have 3 clips they contain a Dolby Digital Presentation, and they are named: VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_02_1.VOB and VTS_03_1.VOB.

    1. Rename these 3 files to following order:
    VTS_01_001.VOB
    VTS_01_002.VOB
    VTS_01_003.VOB

    2. Open the first VOB file (VTS_01_001.VOB) with VobEdit, and choose the Menu: 'Edit -> Join Clips':

A filedialog will apear, where you have to specify a destination directory for the final VOB file-set. Specify the directory you want to save in. Click ok.

A second dialog will pop up, where you have to specify a starting VOB-ID. Usually you will enter here a '1' to let the TitleSet start with VOB-ID 1.
So just enter here now a 1.

    Joining begins now:

When this is finished, you will have a new VOB file: VTS_01_1.VOB, or if you have joined more files you will have a Title-Set from VTS_01_1.VOB - VTS_01_n.VOB.

Now just use IfoEdit to create new IFO files for this new Title-Set, and then you can burn this to DVD-R. Instructs at the below link.

    http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/createifo094.html

Enjoy...Again all this is info I got from IFOEdit's website. Not my own stuff.
