mkns, You don't need to post the same question in three different forums. You need to review the forum rules ... same post in three forums is a big No No.

No harm ... no foul. Are you asking for (1) recommendations on what software to use to transfer SVCD movies to DVD movies or for (2) recommendations on which DVD-R/RW drive to get for your computer? In regards to (1) I've never done this but I'm sure that the "How To" and "Tools" sections to the left would provide you with the know-how to do it. In regards to (2) I own a Sony DRU-500a with burns both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW formats. I opted for this burner because of reviews I read on www.pcworld.com and because of what I read on this site. I also wanted both formats so to minimize the risk of obsolesce in a few years (couple of years) if one format becomes more dominant than the other. By the way, my standalone DVD player (Toshiba SD2800) plays DVD-R/RW discs, of home movies and backups of commerical DVDs (which I own), that I've burned with the DRU-500a. I've been very please with the results. The section to the left contains reviews on more writers than you probably want to go through. Also, sites like www.pcworld.com contain several articles on this subject ... one this week in fact (just search through their archives). Good luck.
