If you want to use FitCD for calculating bitrates for DVD-r, which I strongly recommend you do, then you will have to purchase the full version by making a small donation to the author. He will send you Fit2Disk and besides having DVD-r as an output format (I don't believe FitCD has this but I haven't used that version in a while) it comes with some very nice additions.

This program is definitely worth every penny.

  9. Thanks Adam
I was already at his web site and read about it. My only question t6o him was concerning the mention and use of AVIsynth. I don't use that software.

Was it needed to use the calculator?

For the bitrate calculation no you don't need avisynth. But if you do use avisynth, Fitcd and Fit2disk have some great features for creating your scripts for you. It will analyze your actual pixel resolution to guarantee correct aspect ratio. This sounds trivial, but alot of commercial DVDs and other productions use generic aspect ratios which can lead to slight aspect ratio errors after resizing.
