  1. Hey,

I have got a 4cd SVCD of LOTR:FotR (Do not worry, i own it on 2 dvd & extended dvd edition, but wanted to try if its gonna work) and want to put it on a dvd+r with subtitles. I downloaded subtitles for each of the cd, so i guess i must first add subtitles and then convert it into one file. I burned the cd's already so i think i have to extract the mpg's first. My questions are:

    - How do i add permanent subtitles using the .srt format?
    - How do i join the four cd's?
    - Can i burn it on 1 dvd+r, since the movie is around 180 minutes?
    - Are there any benefits of putting it on DVD? Are there any noticable differences between Svcd & DVD?

    Thnx in advance,

    Phoenix4

Use virtualdubmpeg2 to open svcd mpgs and add permanent subtitles and then frameserve to tmpgenc/cce encode. And last author. You dont have to join, you can let the 4 clips play continuesly when you author the dvd.

    www.vcdhelp.com/edit#subs

But you will lose quality when you add permanent subtitles because it requires reencoding.

  6. Ok, i copy/pasted the AVSEQ01.MPG file to my HD and opened virtualdubmod 1.4.13. But when i try to open the file it gives the following errors:

    - Warning: Imcomplete MPEG file detected. Last frame is maybe corrupted
    - MPEG Import Filter: MPEG file does not contain video stream

Then i try Virtualdubmpeg2 and it also gives an error:

    - MPEG Import Filter: pack synchronization error

    What's wrong?

Edit: Few hours later... I tried to convert it first to dvd format with the trial version of Tmpgenc 2.5.10 and then putting subtitles under it, only another problem occurs (sigh...). When i try to add the AVSEQ01.MPG as video file (after first selecting NTSC DVD format with mp2 sound in step 1, to be able to put it on one DVDR) it says that the program can't open it, or that the filetype isn't supported. What the hell am i doing wrong?

I also tried to convert the subtitles from .srt to .sub for me to add them with WinSubMux, but i can't find a converter for it.

PLEEEEZ help me, for i am desperate to getting this thing to work.

  8. Some guy mailed me with a possible solution and he asked me to postit here. Plz comment the solution or give extra help.

    Hi!
I just registered and can not post to the forum.

    My solution:

    Without subs
    1. copy the SVCD dat files to your hard disk (AVSEQ001.DAT, AVSEQ002.dat, etc..)
    2. tmpeg: mpeg tools /join (& cut) the 4 (2, 3, ..) dat files to a new mpg file
    3. load DVD template and convert (only) the sound to 48 kHz (recommended kbps
224, or whatever you want) (recommended to set external converters: toolame for
    wav, ssrc for 44,1 -> 48 kHz)
    4. demux the video part of new mpg file with tmpeg /mpeg tools menu to m2v file
    5. You have a new audio and video file. Use IFOEDIT, the DVD Author, author new
DVD menu, and add the video and audio files, define the destination directory
    then
    press OK
HERE YOU CAN ADD SUBTITLES TOO, BUT I DON'T KNOW ANY PROGRAM WHAT
CAN CONVERT FROM TEXT SUBTITLE FILE TO IFOEDIT-LIKE SUP FORMAT.
    ANYONE KNOWS THE SOLUTION?
    6. You can use ImgTools, or Nero to burn the directory to a DVD. It worked fine
using Imation DVD-RW in Panasonic RA-61 stand alone (my tv is a
Sony 29 inch 100 Hz with DRC)! It was satifying (but a little bit jerky) with
    same
    media and Sony PS2.

    with subs
    Same steps form 1-4
    5. Use Maestro for authoring and MaestroSBT for converting subs to Maestro
format, then create image and burn with Nero.
(I never tried this way, becouse Maestro was a little bit complicated for me)

    Regards!
