  1. I just tried adding transistions to my avi for the first time. Usually I just capture with studio 7 and save the movie to the d drive. Then use virtual dub for just minor editing. But my question is, in studio7 when you add transitions to your movie, and then render it and output it as an avi, does the original quality of the movie turn out worse? I guess what I am asking is does the rendering process to an avi degrade the quality? Or is it like a "direct stream copy" with the transitions added in???

    That's what it is. I edited several home movies in SDV 7 with many transitions and JPEG images added in. The part that are .avi are just "copied" by SDV to the new file without loss of quality. The only rendering that goes on is on the transitions and any images that you may have added.
