  1. OK... as long as I'm at it (and before I try a complete trial and error approach) here's another question:

I'm using this combination to make VCD's from MPEG's which were created with TMPGenc and not processed further. Some of them are 24fps (IVTC'ed film), some are VBR, and some have somewhat higher bitrates (ie. 1500-1750) than standard.

I use TSCV and set up the chapters using the built-in media player to find the spot in the movie and then I "add chapter" at that point. When I'm all done, I go to the "Options" menu and enable the VCD options flag because I haven't run the MPEG sequence maker on my files.

The resulting VCD plays OK (Apex 703) and contains chapters-except that they're not exactly where I had placed them when I authored the disk in TSCV! Could this be a problem with the non-compliant MPEG's? Or maybe something else?

    Thanks

  2. First, look under settings and make sure you've chosen NTSC and not Pal. For some reason TSVC default is PAL 29.97fps (which doesn't actually exist). Second, after you IVTC your movie and encoded it, you did apply/run pulldown right?

It sounds like your predicted frame rate is 'off' and that's why your chapters don't quite match up. You might also want to ask on the TSCV fourmn at http://www.ttool.org

  3. Pulldown on playback won't be involved here because these are VCD's- But I did try switching to 23.97fps NTSC on the settings page and the chapters seemed to end up much closer to where I selected when authoring, so that's good. I'll have to do some more testing and get it nailed down for sure.
