  1. Like many who do this as a hobby, my friends, associates adn relative think I am the 'expert' on this stuff. If they only knew how many coasters I have made.

So, I just got an inquiry from a relative to convert 150 1-Hour videotapes of interviews (VHS - NTSC) to VCD format. This person is an semi-pro journalist and wants to preserve the tapes for a long time, and be able to dup them without loss of quality.

Now, I am not suicidal enough to take that job on!

So, does anyone know of any services you can pay to do the conversion?

    Thanks in advance. - PUV

  2. Hello,
    I found this service here.
    http://www.isaacnet.com/digivedia/prices.html
But $299 per is a bit pricey. How much is he willing to pay per VHS. I could probably do it for about 1/10th the price + postage...

I know how to do the job and would be willing to train my Wife to do the job and supervise making sure the quality is as good as possible.

email me if you are interested.

  3. I saw a pamphlet for a service from Kodak that does VHS to VCD (and DVD for an insanely high price). The VCD transfer was pretty spendy, too. You might check into Kodak to see what you can find.

  4. Thanks for the reply. I was really doubting that ANY service would exist considering the imperfect nature of the business.
Of course at THAT price ($299), I guess it would even be worth it for ME! Let's see, that would be 299x150= $44,850.00.

I also will pass along your email address to this person.
At your price, he may be willing to do it.

    Thanks again. -PUV
