  2. Here's how I did it tonight.

    1) Copied the 3 MPEG2 files from the CD's

    2) Demultiplexed the video and audio using TMPGENC (latest version) MPEG Tools

    3) Converted the 44100 mp2 file to 48k using Toolame (external encoder loaded in audio environmental settings).

    4) Remultiplexed the .m2v and new 48k mp2 files using TMPGENC

    5) Using DVDPatcher (v 1.04), changed the header data for each of the three new .mpg files to 720 X 480/custom bitrate of [whatever the mpeg files' bitrates were]/and set to patch first header only.

    6) Using DVD Moviefactory, created VOB files for each mpg file, moving each one after creation to another folder - sequence them VTS_01_1.VOB,
    VTS_01_2.VOB, etc.

    7) Ran IFOEDIT (v.095) to "Create IFOs" for the three new VOB files.

    8) Burned with Nero to DVD and then enjoy. Audio and Video are in perfect synchronization.

  3. For #3, I also used TMPGENC as my main program - toolame as external MPEG 1 layer II encoder.

Notice that I did NOT try to join the files (been there and done that with the audio going out of synch at first join spot). Create a separate VOB file for each new MPG (m2v and 48K mp2).

  4. Ignore the above. The VTS_01_1.IFO file was not recognizing the other VOB's for some reason. The total time was at 25 minutes, which was for only the first original mpg file. Requires further investigation.

I'm sure erzug method is the correct way but since you have a Toshiba 3109 dvd player there is an easier way. According to the DVD player list, your DVD player can play Mpeg1/2 ISO mode. All you have to do is to burn your SVCD's in DVD ISO mode in Nero and should play on your DVD player. If you want them to play continuously, then join them with TMPGEnc before you burn.

  6. Joining them with Tmpgenc doesn't seem to work for me or many others. The audio goes out of synch at the first join.

Here is a revised method that seems to work (all three mpgs were listed as separate chapters in the final IFO as shown by Ifoedit):

    1) Copied the 3 MPEG2 files from the CD's

    2) Demultiplexed the video and audio using TMPGENC (latest version) MPEG Tools

    3) Converted the 44100 mp2 file to 48k using Toolame (external encoder loaded in Tmpgenc audio environmental settings).

    6) Using DVD Moviefactory 2, imported all three mpg's and created DVD folder/files.

    7) Burned with Nero (just my preference since I've never had a bad burn using this app).

As previously mentioned, after viewing the DVDMF2 IFO, there were 3 chapters listed (one for each imported former SVCD mpg file).
Audio was in synch when playing VOB's individually with PowerDVD.
Burned with Nero, but was too late to check on my DVD standalone.
    Will check it out tonight.

  7. Regarding palying raw Mpg's on set tops, my dad bought a Cyberhome 402 which also can play these. But, according to Cyberhome tech support, the resulting playback will not be as good as a formatted SVCD.
