capturing vhs to dvd

Hi. I want to transfer my old vhs tapes over to dvd so I can watch them on a stand alone dvd player. I was wondering what is the best way to due this? I would like the best quality that i could get.

I have a pinnacle studio deluxe avdv version 8 capture card
AMD athlon 650 mhz
40 gig hard drive
320 mb ram
windows 98se ( i'm updating to xp this weekend)
64mb ati graphics card
verbatim dvd+rw/r

I would really appreciate some guidence. I am new at this stuff.

do you have video input on a card of some sort?
pinnacle thing has it?or just firewire?
