I have recently burned a four disc film to SVCD that I got from a friend. The audio had been poorly downsampled from 48Khz to 44Khz which has created an annoying ringing effect that is most noticeable in quiet dialogue interludes. I tried removing the ring in Sound Forge with a simple equalizer tweak, this cleared it up as far as I could tell. But when exported and re-applied to the SVCD it introduced even more background noise!!! Is there anyway to remove such an annoying ring?

I had this problem recently. High piteched ringing heard over all main audio sound. While it was not very loud, it was certainly very annoying, and I don't miss it one bit.
Anyhoo, in Vdub, make sure you check "high quality" in the Audio > Conversion screen.
Presto. Awesome audio.
(On the other hand, if you don't have the original pristine source, this may prove alot more difficult.) -
YUP thats the prob.. I dont have the source files
How do I go about fixing the problem without the source. Is there some filters or routines I can run that I havn't already tried to remove the ringing?
