  1. Ok, I have downloaded this utility (vfapi), but I cannot get it to convert my .d2v to an .avi file.
It goes through all of the motions, but the file is not there after I convert it.
Yes, I ran the command set up file first.

Does anyone know what my problem may be?
Could you possibly enlighten me on ANY other ways to convert .d2v to .avi??

Thanks in advance for any help!

Assuming you installed the VFAPI codec correctly, open dvd2avi, select help and check VFAPI plugin.
    2. Have a look to your dvd2avi directory. There must be a DVD2AVI.VFP file. Someone told me, that he downloaded a dvd2avi version without that file. Maybe this is your problem too.

This also happened to me after I upgraded to TMPGEnc 12j. I haven't made any concrete connections between upgrades and VFAPI installations, as I haven't had time. So far I haven't had a d2v file crash on me (which prompted my use of convertor software in the first place) so I havent had incentive to look into it.

My VFAPI converter seems to work OK but Virtualdub can't load the file afterwards. "Cannot determine filetype.." it says. Something has happened because it worked fine a couple of weeks ago. Any suggestions?

Now it works again. Seems that there are two versions of VFAPI packages out there. The one that unpacks all files in the same folder works. ..or is it something else?
