  1. I've got a 4.48GB MPG file, nicely encoded in DVD format.

Now all I want to do, is take this MPG file, and put it on a DVD-R that would hopefully be compatible in as many standalone players as possible.

    Any ideas folks?

  2. ffmpegX should do it: Tools > open mpg in the small "video" field > "postprocess" (disable "mux") > "author as DVD" (disable other author options) > Go! (if it doesn't fit then reencode it at lower bitrate).

That's not going to fit on DVD-R. You need to keep them under 4.37 GB. You could try demuxing the mpg, reencoding the audio at a lower bitrate and remuxing.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  4. Ok, i followed Majors directions, and it produced the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders. Great, so I burned them like I have done manytimes before.
But the result is disk that says UDF on it, what the heck is that? DVD player pops up but will not play it.
