  1. I ripped a video of a DVD and i have it now as mpeg ( 200 Mb , 20 min duration). I also ripped the subtitles i want. I followed the guide of using virtualdub and station alpha . i maneged to reach the finel step. When i click on file => start frame server and i choose where to save it doesn't do anything , it just appers the window and that's all.
What is the problem with virtualdub
Any other method of adding permanent subs.

You must have misunderstood something in the guide. The subs must be added at the stage before you encode to mpeg. VDub outputs frames (with the subs overlayed) and you then tell your mpeg encoder (TMPGEnc?) to open this .vdr "file", which the encoder then encodes to mpeg. With no encoder "at the recieving end", VDub just sits there and waits for something to start asking for frames.

  3. the subs are encoded with the video (to mpg)
    must do
    open dubMOD(vdub opens directly *.vob)
    in VIDEO -> FILTERS->ADD filters->Subtitler /Avery
and add you subsin *.ssa format
then FRAME SERVE (donīt forget the *.VDR extention
open your encoder ex:TMPGencoder (try Kwag Template)
    open you *.VDR and encode
    thatīs it

If the video in MPEG2 format, you can use WinSubMux (find it in the 'TOOLS' section) to add the subtitles to the MPEG stream.
    You can't fool me, I'm a moron!

  6. OK I THINK I UNDERSTAND
Hear what i did. i created a *.d2v and then i created a fake avi with VFAPI
, then i open the fake avi with virtual dub i made all the things about the filter and i wnet File=> Start Frame Serve, i saved my file as test.vdr and the window of framesrving opened. Now if i have understand i should leave the window open and open tmpge and in video source select test.vdr ( which is only 52 bytes ) is this right? But when i do this tmpge tells that this file is unsupported.
Also virtualdub don't show the greek subtitles , why?

  7. are you shore the subtitles doesnt show?
i think that you are looking in the "input video screen"
you should be looking on the "output video screen"

in virtualdub select "options" and "swap video input/output pans"
you should see the video output pan now.
if you made everything as you should that is...
HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE

    Yes.

I think this has to do with the VFAPI plugin. I think there's a guide here somewhere for frameserving to TMPGEnc.

Did you rip the Greek subs to .ssa format? If you did, something ought to show where the subs should be. If there are subs, but just gibberish (not in Greek characters), you may have to change character set - see the Font encoding section in the readme for the subtitler filter.
