  1. Hi all,

    Could someone please help me? I have a mpeg file that i wish to decreame in size. it is currenlty 320x240. It;s about 1mb, i would like to decreate it by half.

    Can someone point my in the right direction?

    You have to reencode it at half the bitrate used in its current incarnation. This will reduce quality dramatically, if it's not encoded at a very high bitrate as it is. By reducing the resolution (# of pixels to be exact) to half, you will keep quality but of course get a "smaller" video.

    Use TMPGEnc to reencode and resize. There are no specific guides on reencoding AFAIK, but read the VCD guides and I'm sure you'll understand the principles involved.

    If that file is a Mpeg 1/Mpeg 4 load it into Vdub

    video > full processing mode
    video > compression > codec > divx low motion > bitrate > 400
    Audio > full pressing mode
    audio > compression > codec > MP3 > Bitrate > 128 > frq same

    SAVE AVI
    you have now converted the mpeg 1/4 to a mpeg 4 DivX AVI
