I am using
-DVD Decryter
-at 1.73 ghtz
-7200 rpm
-XP home
-16X DVD
I noticed in SETUP you can change the settings ( DMA, ULTRA DMA........)
Can I play with that to make it rip faster? -
I still haven't resolved my W2K issue on being stuck at 2x ripping. All the settings are right for ripping at max speed, but it limits itself to 2X with DVD2AVI or DVDDecryptor.
To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
@Gozorgan and others. I think I've read here, and other places that many DVD units lock at 2X on DVD video disks. I don't know much more than that execpt that Liteon is one that is listed as not having that limit.

1) Make sure that DMA is enabled
2) Make sure that a valid ASPI layer is installed (none of the M$ OS ship with one)
3) Rip with DVD Decypter (it's the fastest)
Finally many DVD-ROMs are locked at 2x ripping for CSS encoded discs. The Lite-on, pioneer and acer DVD-ROMs are not locked. -
I had been stucked with 2X ripping speed on my Windows 2000 for over a year with DMA enabled and ASPI installed, but not any more...
You must have a DVD drive to rip and either a CD-RW drive or DVD-RW drive to burn, right? PUT THESE TWO DRIVES ON SEPARATE IDE CABLES. Not a single forum or post mentioning about this.
I accidentally found that out after I change my CD-RW drive to DVD-RW drive. At first I put both drives on the same IDE cable and still got 2X, then I moved the DVD-RW to primary slave (hard drive being master), kept the 16X DVD drive on secondary master and it jumped to 7.4X! Try that, I bet it'll work. But you still need ASPI installed.
