Avi to MPEG to DVD

Hey Guys. What format of mpeg do I need to make a DVD? Is it .mp2? My main deal is, what do I have to convert my DV captures(and edits) to (raw avi) to burn it onto a DVD-R that will play on a Standalone? If I convert this raw avi file to a "DVD compliant" mpeg, what would that be?

After I've got this DVD compliant mpeg file, what would I use to burn it onto a DVD and it be "Standalone DVD player compliant"

Sorry Zik-Zak Know Future. Didn't mean to offend anyone. However, I did look through all the guides. I just seem to have forgotten which it was. I basically sad down and read as many guides as possible in one night and then couldn't remember reading this.

Thanks and sorry again. I write guides all the time as well (not for this website, ofcourse ) and I can understand.
