  1. I captured miniDV via firewire using Ulead Video Caputure 6.5 and got an output

with these specs: AVI 150MB 43sec 720x480 (DV Video Decoder setting in WMP is set

at FULL quality). When I playback this file, objects in motion get stripe lines on

them, mostly noticeble when they move and full screen playback. If I switch to HALF

quality in DV Video Decoder setting of WMP, it becomes 360x240 and more blurry and

these stripes cannot be seen. What makes them happen? Also, captures look okay at

100% zoom in WMP, but if I double it or make it full screen, they become blurry. Is

it normal, or will it look okay on TV if I'll burn it on DVD-R? Does firewire card

plays any role in the quality of video it takes from camcoder? Is Ulead MSPro 6.5

is one of the best at capturing from miniDV? Thank you in advance for any hints or

suggestions on any of these newbie questions.

P.S. My goal is the get the best possible quality out of DV (no matter how much

space it takes, I will upgrade hard drive if I'll see success) to put on 2hr DVD-R.

  2. You are probably seing interlacing. You might also notice certain DV artifacts. But they will not show up on your TV.

  3. miniDV format is interelaced. You'll see strip lines. WMP in half duplex will get eliminate half of the resolution (remove every 2 lines) thus eliminate the interlace effect but blur up the video a bit. Unless you get one of those progressive scan cams. The interlace lines will go away on TV sets as suggested earlier.

it took me almost 2 years to realize that these won't show up on tv. i suck.

    any FW card is fine.

I use DVIO, i used to use Premiere and DVIO is just as good and tiny tiny tiny little app (won't tax resources like premiere etc.)

the blur is normal over 100%
