    how do I know if the Divx I downloaded and burned is surround sound capable.

    Also what type of settings must I use to enable my 5.1 channels to be optimized with the divX movies?

    Load the AVi into Vdub, select file > file information
    The audio will be shown as 5 channels > Unknown

    Not suitable for 5.1 DVD's or 5.1 playback

    so if it says channels < 2 stereo that means its only 2 channels.

    Does it have anything to do with the setting i have on my speakers?

    Does what have anything to do with your speakers ?, can't you hear the sound ? if you can't you have a missing AC3 filter ?

    Some test files, there is also a AC3 test file you can play
