How do I rip an single image out of a DVD/AVI to a jpeg or bmp format? what software to uses,too?

there are lots. progs like powerdvd will rip images from dvd. Virtualdub will rip images from avis. TMPGenc will do them from mpegs.
you know it's the anti-Midas touch when all you touch goes to shit..............
