I've got a few DVD backup's on DVD-R that played great through my Philips player on my old Sony TV.
Now I've been and got a Sharp 28" Widescreen, and it's like the picture is stretched verticallymissing the bottom off the picture, I've tried all the screen modes, but nothing works !!
I can't see it being the TV, cause originals, VCD's and SVCD's all play OK, just the DVD-R's I'm having problems with![]()

I think the problem is that the video is real 4:3 encode with black bar's to look like 16:9 like SVCD is I think you have to rip the DVD again and use info edit to set it back to 16:9 I have not try this but I have read in the past this is how to fix it. most people use like sonic or unlead to authoring the vob files if you encode any more DVD use DVD2ONE and just burn with nero perfect DVD's every time
