Just a quick question, I have recently downloaded 2 movies in the xvid format. Now I have a apex 500wm that will play these files as is if burnt to a cd. I am first wondering if I should convert these files to another format to increase quality etc., or not? Secondly, if I should just leave these files in this format, how should I burn them (nero)? Thanx.

The number 2 myth on VCDHelp: Converting to increase quality.

You can never convert something and make it better. Sometimes you can convert it and clean it up a little(certain types of noise or nonstandard resolution), but you lose quality anyway.

Audio is the same way, just typically you can't tell. If you take a 128 kbps MP3, filter it, reconvert it to mp3, you will introduce more distortion (but you may have fixed a problem with HUM or ringing).
