  1. I am currently trying to write a DVD rip to VCD with TMPGEnc, but the film's the size of a TV, not widescreen.

I know it looks good in widescreen mode when I watch the film with PowerDVD, but how would I go about shrinking the image to a more widescreen like size (black borders) so that the output MPEG will look like it's playing in the correct aspect ratio?

I've tried clip frame but the black borders cut parts of the image off.

Thanks for any help I recieve.

  2. Try the Settings button, Advanced tab and change the Source Aspect Ratio to 16:9 (NTSC or PAL)

encode a few minutes of the film and see what it looks like...

  3. Still looks the same when I try "16:9 625 line (PAL)" and "16:9 Display".

Here's a screen grab I took, if it helps.

  6. when you have changed the source aspect ratio to 16:9 PAL 625 does the output not look differently (with borders) in the TMPGEnc preview window?
(I've just done this a dozen times fritting between 1:1 and 16:9 and it works for me?)

Also, in WMP press Alt+Enter for full screen effect to see the borders, dont view it in a window

  7. I normally do watch films in full screen, but I decided to take a grab of the window so that you can see the size of the image properly, but anyway, it's sorted now.

One more question, what's the difference between the two different full screen keep aspect ratio video arrange modes?
