  1. I have a nice new P-III 800 MHz laptop with all the goodies and want to video edit. Trouble is finding a way to capture my video from a VCR. I have a Dazzle DVC USB, which gives me MPEG-1, but is pretty crappy quality.. I've captured/converted the MPEG-1 at the highest quality possible, but it still looks bad.

I want to get good quality MPEG-2, but don't know how. I know I can't do it with my current hardware.

    Please help!

  3. Can't use a PCI card... laptops don't come with one! The only thing I can use is a PCMCIA card, but Firewire is only for digital video capture. I'm capturing analog from VCRs etc.

I'm in the same boat as you - I have a laptop and Dazzle USB. As you say the quality is not brilliant. If I had the money though I would buy Dazzle Hollywood Bridge to convert analogue video to DV and connect to the laptop via firewire

Then check cdw they have it for under $100 US.

I was lucky enought to get a laptop for work that has video capture built in.
