  1. Is it possible to convert a 29.95 or 25 fps avi file (divx)
into a 20 or 15 fps avi file?
    Keeping sound synchronized.
Virtual dub seems not able to do it. changing the frame
    rate desynchronizes the audio.
    any way to do it?

Yeah you can do it, you will just have to re-render the video. Try Vegas Video4, it will work great for ya.

You can do the video with Virtualdub no problems...but as you've found out the audio will be out of sync...so you need to stretch the audio to match...several progs will do this, but I like Goldwave's Time warp feature. Having said that, you want to reduce the frame rate quite a lot...so I think its gonna look a bit silly...ie very slowed down. Also the audio quality will suffer by stretching it so much.

I convert all my movies from 23.976 to 25 before encoding...but as that is only an increase of approx 1fps then the quality does not suffer. Going from 29 or 25 to 15 or 20 is a very large difference.....why do you want to convert to 15 or 20fps?
