  1. Hi there
    I really need help here
    First of all i have to tell that i havent got this problem before
    I just reformat my HD and now here comes the problem
    I trying to frameserving to TMPGenc using virtualdub
    But the virtualdub cannot determine the file type
    Im using Smart Ripper to rip the DVD
    Using DVD2AVI save project and got the *.d2v file and the audio
    Using VFAPI codec to make the fake avi file for the VirtualDUb
    And then this problem come out
    VirtualDub cant open the fake avi
    Said cannot determine the type of file
    I already install the codec (Nimo Pack Codec)
    Also i already Install Handler in the Virtual Dub
    So please help me out
    Thanks in advance

    PS: I have never had this problem before
    This is only show up after i reformat the HD
    I already search the forum for help but none got the same problem like this

  2. i'm sure this won't be much help mate, but i personally find that the nemo codec pack causes more problems than it solves. were you using nemo successfully before your reformat?

  3. Have you re-installed the O/S? Remember, 98 can only read files upto 4GB, have you ripped the dvd into larger than 4GB running Win98?

    If you're a 2000/XP user your ok and my little comment is nothing more than a red herring.........

    ...but yes! The Nimo Codecs pack cost me no end of troubles also, especially with Xvids....

    And yes before reformat, I using Nimo Codec too
    So wat to do now?
    Im really confused and its been my fifth day now
    I know there are other way to use
    But im already enjoy using virtualdub and frameserving to TMPGEnc
    No one can help here ?
    I really appreciate any suggestion here

  6. your problem must be the version you are using in DVDAVI
    i only use 1.76
    with dvd2avi 1.77 or 1.86... never works
    usually use
    dvddecrypter 3....
    dvd2avi 1.76
    vdub1.14.or(vdub with suport for mp3/ac3 ) to frame serve to TMPG
    or
    avisynth (basics)
    tmpg 2.5? some versions of tmpg donīt work for me

    The problem is i cant open the fake avi in virtualdub
    I rip the DVD using smartripper
    Using DVD2 AVI save project
    and use the VFAPICodecV105en to make fake avi
    But cant open it in the VirtualDub
    So i cant go on and it didnt say nothing
    Only got VirtualDub error :
    Cannot Determine file type of "bla bla bla...."
    I already instal handler in VirtualDub

    Somebody please help me

    I just load the .d2v file and audio file in TMPGEnc. DVD2AVI is framserving the vob files to TMPGEnc.

    Add subtile, using the filter and so on

    If not try installing that

    I remove Nimo Codec now
    Install :
    DivX 311alpha
    Divx 412
    DivxPro 5.03
    XVID codec
    Thats all the codec i install
    But still no luck till now
    I really need all the suggestion

  12. Still no solution for this? I have the same problem ...

    Cannot open the fake AVI in TMPGEnc either, but can open the d2v project.

    Would like to add subtitles, though.

  13. Found the solution. You must run first proxyoff.reg in the Virtualdub\aviproxy folder. This solves the problem.
