  1. I have an old CEI Raffles TV card (BT84. I do have the drivers and can use it fairly good on a PII 350 system. Even tried some capturing and did ok results (filters would probably produced better output).

Anyway, now, I'm trying to use this card on another system and here's where the trouble comes in.

    a) PIII 1 GHz (Win98 SE). I get memory conflicts with the ACPI BIOS. Of course neither the card's settings nor the ACPI can be changed. This looks like a dead end, unless some gives me some hints (Yes, different slots have been tried)

    b) Pentium MMX 200 (Win98 SE). The board is recognized and the drivers load ok. The TV software launches and I even get a picture. Yet after a few seconds, the system freezes. The system is a barebones (in terms of software) with 128 Megs of RAM. It only has a 2 Meg Video card though.

At this point I'm willing to accept the fact that the board is incompatible with the PIII box. But at least I'd like to use it as a TV Tuner on the other one. Would increasing to a 4 Meg video card help here ? I was under the impression that these TV Tuner cards did not require much horsepower...

Otherwise, I'm considering purchasing an ATI TV Wonder. My understanding is that it can capture straight MPEG1 video, right ? Since other types of captures I'm looking for is only straight VHS...

    Thanks for your help...

  2. Purchase both a 3D 8mb/+ video card for the P200, and a ATI TV-Wonder (not the SE edition it's Mono). That's if you want you view on the P200 and both Record and view on your other system. Otherwise I'd go with the ATI TV-Wonder and go for the straight Mpeg recorder if your drive space/recorded material ratio will be limited to how much you record, and how often you have time for editing and burning.
